The fifth workshop within the Component 5 and the first activity of the output 5.4: “20 adult educators trained as adult educator trainers; training programme and teacher guidelines developed” of the CARDS 2004 Adult learning project took place from 7 to 10 July 2008 in the Therapia Hotel in Crikvenica.

It was held by long term expert Robert Blum and short term expert Sue Bennett.

Twenty-one experienced adult educators participated in the workshop and were selected for the training. Through 3 more workshops there will be developed a training programme and teacher guidelines that will be used in adult education programmes. As part of the training course, they will draft a plan for implementation of regional training courses for up to 100 adult educators.

The first workshop comprised the following activities:

 
    1.    the beginning of the training
    2.    learning and using methodology 
    3.    comments on implementation

In order for the members of the working group to reach a maximum of “ownership” in the process, the methodology was interactive and participatory one. The trainers created and directed the structured, goal oriented communication, work techniques, interactive teaching methodology, learning and teaching related content, as well as working in groups. The results of this workshop are the basic material for teaching guidelines to be completed in the following workshops.

Between the workshops, the members of the working group were asked to prepare practical applications of the contents worked on in the previous workshop. These materials will be presented, discussed, evaluated and improved. The evaluation and improvement will also serve as examples of assessment and feedback in pedagogical practice.

The next workshop will take place from 15 to 18 September 2008 in the Therapia Hotel in Crikvenica.
