The fourth workshop within the Component 5: “Basic skills programme for adults”of the CARDS 2004 Adult learning project was held from 11 to 13 June 2008 in the Therapia Hotel in Crikvenica.
This workshop was the second activity within the output 5.2., whose goal is to analyze the data obtained in the surveys on the project “For a Literate Croatia” that the working groups conducted by using instruments developed in the past workshops.
Results were analyzed where quantitative data have been obtained and samples of qualitative data were identified as representative of those obtained. All results were forwarded to the project team, who made a comprehensive analysis of the received data and outlined research results in a detailed report. A revision of the draft was carried out at the workshop, and the agreement was reached on the best way of structuring the final report. Recommendations were finalized and a timeline for the finalization of the report was defined. Following the revision, the recommendations will be passed to the Agency for Adult Education as a good basis for further planning.
The workshop was held by two experts on literacy and basic skills for adults, Robert Blum from Germany and Sue Bennett from Great Britain.
Participants in this workshop were the representatives from the Agency for Adult Education, Education and Teacher Training Agency, Croatian Employment Service and adult education service providers.
This was the last workshop whose objective is to evaluate and assess the project “For a Literate Croatia”. Final presentation for the outputs 5.1. and 5.2. within the Component 5 is planned for September 2008.
The beginning of the programme of teacher training and further training (outputs 5.4. and 5.5.) is planned for July 2008, and the programme of the development of the new curriculum for basic adult education (output 5.3.) is planned for September 2008.
